CUSTOM CRAFTSMANSHIP MAKES

EACH AVX COUPE UNIQUE

Hand Construction Allows Each Car
To Bear Its Owner's Creative Stamp.
Lancaster, Pennsylvania

In a sense, the 1998 AVX Coupe bridges two distinctively different automotive worlds. In design, detailing and refinement, it1s clearly a luxurious grand touring car. But the painstaking hand craftsmanship evident in its construction links it directly to the long-honored traditions of American custom cars and hot rods.

The actual work of constructing each AVX Coupe is performed by a group of craftsmen who have a long record of building award-winning custom cars and street rods. They lavish the AVX with a degree of care, precision and attention to detail unheard of in modern production-line automaking.

What1s more, this custom-built approach allows each AVX owner to specify features that make his car totally unique. So, the phrase "each AVX is one-of-a-kind" isn't an exaggeration, but a clear statement of fact.

To begin the process, the customer provides AVX Cars with an F-series Pontiac Firebird (1993 or newer). All Firebird body panels are then stripped away, and the interior is removed. Next, the AVX craftsmen build the cantilever hood system, along with tubular steel reinforced impact zones front and rear. Finally, after installing a double-diamond four-point brace, they fit the modified chassis with fiberglass AVX body panels. Preparing and painting the AVX bodywork is a painstaking process all by itself, requiring a total of roughly 280 hours of work. The customer can choose from a selection of standard AVX colors many based on the original Avanti's or specify a custom color.

The AVX base price of $33,900 includes a custom interior with a comprehensive selection of fabrics, reupholstered seats, redesigned and retrimmed door panels, a color-coordinated instrument panel and console, and a special woodgrain package.

The finished car rides on 17-inch chromed alloy wheels specially designed for the AVX by Tom Kellogg and manufactured by the world-famous Boyds Wheels of California. The rubber is provided by Michelin: 235-45 up front, 235-50 in back. Completing the exterior look are twin three-inch chrome exhausts.

AVX lighting includes high-intensity headlights and lifetime-warranted LED back-up lights and turn signals.
