The following price guide is provided to aid buyers and sellers of Avanti automobiles in making sure the price of the Avanti is fair. The prices are based on data collected from several sources including auctions and title transfers. These prices are intended merely as a guideline. Use your own judgment as it applies to your particular car and situation.
A word about determining a selling price for your Avanti.... Be realistic. The amount of money you have in a car has nothing to do with what it is worth. A car's value is based on its condition and its desirability in the market. That's it! Unfortunately sentimentality can not get factored into the price. If you have an Avanti, especially a project car, price it accordingly so that it can get into the hands of someone who wants to take care of it.
Few options at this point add much to the value of an Avanti. Options that do add value are a moonroof, leather interior, and the supercharger on a Studebaker Avanti. The most collectable and expensive Avantis are the Supercharged R-2 and R-3 Studebakers and the convertible Blake, Kelly, and Cafaro Avantis.
Condition Descriptions
1. A 100 point show car of true concours quality. This car is not road driven. It is transported by enclosed trailer. This car is original and correct down to the last nut, bolt, and washer. As an example, a regional show of 500 cars might have only 3 or 4 concours quality number 1 condition vehicles.
2. A 90 to 95 point show car with only very minor flaws. This car needs no major work of any kind, it merely lacks detailing such as on the frame or under the hood. This car is frequently trailered. It is driven some, but only occasionally. A number 2 would win a trophy at local or regional show.
3. A 80 to 89 point show/street car. This is a clean original car with no major cosmetic or mechanical problems. It does show some wear such as a slightly worn drivers seat, but nothing major. This car is driven on occasion and trailered only when traveling great distances. This car might place in a local show, but would not be competitive on a regional or national level.
4. A 70 to 79 point driver car. This is a collectible car that is driven regularly. It is kept in top notch mechanical condition and good shape cosmetically. The body is nice and straight with no visible rust. This car is fully functional, but might need interior, paint, tires, etc. This car is presentable and looks great from 20 feet away. All equipment is operational.
5. This car is drivable, but needs a little bit of everything. This car is complete, but may have spent many years as a daily driver or stored in a barn. If not drivable, this car at least has all parts, is towable, and able to be restored without unreasonable expense.
6. This is a parts car. This car is to far gone for restoration, but enough good parts are there that you would not want to send it to a crusher. If the car is newer, this might be a car that was damaged in an accident.
